Deacons

This committee meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

The Board of Deacons (under the jurisdiction of the Session) is composed of Deacons, who like Elders, are church members elected and ordained by the congregation. The office of Deacon as set forth in scripture is one of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ. As outlined in the Constitution, "it is the duty of Deacons to ... to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to anyone who may be in distress. " The Deacons prepare the communion elements for worship services as well as plan for the coordination of caring in our church. They are also in charge of Deacon on duty, communion preparation, extended communion, transportation, residence tea, benevolence giving, memorial receptions, 90+ year old celebration, Christmas Poinsettias and cookies, coordination with Covenant Care.
