Finance/Stewardship Committee
Stewardship is a central Christian value and is defined as caring for something that belongs to another. In creation, God directed humanity to steward the earth—meaning to care for it and tend to it on God’s behalf. In the traditions of the church, stewardship has also come to refer to our stewarding all that God has given us: our time, talent and treasure.
The projected deficit for 2009 was budgeted at $173,204 and actually ended up being $153,619 when we closed out the financial year. Funds to cover the deficit were taken from Reserves.
The projected deficit for 2010 is $52,589. As you can see, we have made great strides in reducing the amount from last year; pledges were up from $181,000 in 2009 to $214,000 in 2010. Rental income is up and salary expenses have been reduced. We continue to work on reducing the deficit as we evaluate and prioritize the work that needs to be done to maintain the buildings so we can continue to keep our doors open to do God's work.
The Finance and Stewardship Committee manage the financial health of the church. The Stewardship Committee, chaired by Carol Dolezal-Ng is working to create a sustainable, yearlong program that will grow with the church in years to come.
