Adult Education in March

Text Box: Mission Matters Adult Education Hour

As we focus on global mission next quarter, the Mission Committee invites you to join us on Sunday, March 30, at 11:45am, as we embrace the opportunity to hear from our very own, Carol Dolezal-Ng.  After serving as an elder commissioner to the General Assembly in 2004, she felt the call to interpret the assembly's actions with respect to the Middle East.  Carol is now a mission co-worker (formerly known as a missionary) who is serving the Near East School of Theology, an interdenominational Protestant seminary in Beirut.  She is assisting in interpreting its mission and strengthening the base of support for that mission.  On March 30, she will give us some insights about her call and her travels to the Middle East.  Let's learn about how our congregation can be supportive of Carol and N.E.S.T., one of our global mission partners.

Abundant Living at the End of Life

As Christian people we are able to face the end of our lives with our eyes wide open.  We have chosen a somewhat playful title for this course to encourage you to come—even if you feel that the end of your life is a long way off!  You are encouraged to come to any of these sessions (they stand on their own) but especially to all of them.

Beginning on April 6, Rev. Stokes and Rev. Williams will be leading a five-week course called “Going in Style.”  Even while we have been planning this class, we have had some amazing conversations with members of the congregation about death and dying.  We have an incredible congregation with great resources for living and dying well.

We will be including a number of members of the congregation and employing their expertise to bring our best to bear on this important subject.  In this course we will touch on many of the questions related to the end of life—facing our mortality, planning our memorial service, financial planning, the process of grieving, creating a moral will, finding and creating a circle of support.

If you’d like to sign up, please phone Becky in the church office (510) 444-3555.
