Come and join us for the first Building the Beloved Community workshop for 2009 to take place next Saturday, January 10th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bill Coburn and Rahul, the father and son team will offer their reflections on their experiences of racism. There will be small group discussions for intimate sharing. Lunch and child-care services will be provided.Save the following dates for additional future workshops: February 14, March 14, and April 18, 2009.

Sister Marilyn from St. Mary's Center who is in charge of the homeless shelter program will be our speaker on Sunday, January 11th immediately after the worship hour. Cone and learn about their ministry and how we can be partners with St. Mary's Center, a multi-service agency assisting low-income seniors, families and pre-school children.
Sunday, January 18th 2009 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Rev. Dr. Carol Miles, newly called as the Executive Director of Westminster House at the University of California, will be the Adult Education speaker on January 18. Plan to stay for light refreshments and exciting news about plans for growing Presbyterian leadership and assisting students as they explore and deepen their faith during their college years, as well as the approaching 100th anniversary of student ministry at Cal.

Mission Committee and Deacons have supported ongoing beautification and instructional gardening programs at Lakeview Elementary School and Lakeview Child Development Center. Come and learn about this project and explore ways to become involved. Gordon Piper will present this great work.

This program deepens childrens' understanding of reformed worship through music, singing, stories and activities and thereby create multiple ways children can be involved as worship leaders on Sunday.
Wednesdays 12:15 p.m.
Ron McKean, our Director of Music plays a variety of music by composers from around the world. It's a wonderful opportunity to hear music played on the Rosales Opus 16 Organ.

This series of classess is geared to the specific interests of this congregation. Topics to be covered include: relationships, mission, prayer life, spiritual practices, issues of race and social justice
Wednesdays 10:30 a.m.
The group explores the sermon text for the coming Sunday. Participants discuss the historical, social, and scriptural context of the Bible passage.
