Worship at First Presbyterian Church

Worship is the time for Christians to gather to turn toward God with music, word, thought, gesture, and silence. This weekly time in the presence of God is the central act of the church.  Here at First Presbyterian Church of Oakland, our worship invites the presence of God into the space, so that God’s presence can be felt and heard. If you visit with us, you will experience a worship that includes:

  • The word of God preached in ways that challenge the mind, and encourage one’s faith.

  • Music that reflects a variety of styles such as hymns, classical, jazz, African-American Spirituals, and folk.

  • Moments of quiet and contemplation for reflection.

  • Lively intergenerational worship that draws on the vibrant energy of children and youth.

We welcome all who would like to worship with us. Please stop by on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. so that you can worship with us, and fellowship after service. Children are welcome in worship; however, we also offer childcare for those under 3 years of age and Godly Play for children over the age of 3.
